Oct' 2005 Mike.
The weekend of the 1st & 2nd of October saw two sked's with Mike K6MYC in DM07DB California USA, on my Moonset 16 days after Perigee and the Moon moving away from the Earth, at some 398,328Kms, me taking the first period.
The 1st sked on Saturday went well, we exchanged all the required info for a complete QSO but it was sent out of sequence, so not strictly allowed, there was also a huge storm on my side 5 minuets into the sked, black sky and heavy rain, and my RX audio went out the window for 10 minuets. So we agreed to continue with sked #2 on the Sunday.
For the first 30minuets I received nothing back from my calls, Ian M0BCG 200 miles away to my west was also monitoring for Mike, at 16:13z we both received Mike's first decode, a great signal at -24db, him sending both calls and his locator, meaning he had not heard me yet, the Moon was on my horizon at 11 degrees, then it all happened within 12 minuets, I replied to Mike sending 'OOO' he replied 'RO' I replied 'RRR' and he sent '73' I replied with '73', QSO complete before the Moon had even dropped down to 6 degrees!
Ian confirmed that he had monitored and received each over both ways and that the details I had matched his. What would I do without him, he has been along side every step of the way for every sked for the last 6 weeks, plus a 6 hour round trip drive to my QTH to help set up my JT65A software, I publicly thanks him for all his help to date, today's QSO wouldn't have happened without his considerable encouragement, support & help...
